2nd Annual Myles Standish Marathon

Sunday, November 17, 2013

Presented with South Shore Race Management.

REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

The Myles Standish Marathon and Marathon Relay are brought to Plymouth by Bayside Runner and South Shore Race Management.  The first full marathon to be held in Plymouth, we had an outstanding first year and are looking forward to our second year with this event.  The course is mostly low traffic roads and a mix of hills, pavement and dirt roads, making it a challenging, enjoyable event.

NEW COURSE FOR 2013

We are currently in the process of mapping out a new course for the 2013 race.  In post race discussions with race staff, runners and the Plymouth Police it was decided that the later miles of the race should be moved to lower traffic roads. Our primary concern is to keep the runners safe.  You will still be running the first 15-16 miles within the State Forest.  This will eliminate some of those mid-course hills and will add in some more dirt roads.
This does NOT mean that the course is flat and we encourage anyone that can get to the area to do some training on the course.  We will be working on the final course details over the next couple of months and will make updates as we have them.  The new course will be a certified Boston Marathon Qualifier.

What we do know right now:  the starting area will remain the same at College Pond and the finish line will be moved to Plymouth North High School at 41 Obery Street.  This will give us a lot more space to spread out at the finish and give the runners a spectacular track finish at the recently completed high school.

Additional information will be posted to the website as we approach the date of the race.  This will include course maps, relay maps along with distances and exchange locations, local hotel information for anyone visiting from out of town, sponsorship and volunteer information, parking and shuttles and much more.  If you have any questions, please send an email to southshorerace@hotmail.com.
